There were no injuries reported after five rail cars carrying fuel derailed east of Ashcroft on Monday morning, Sept. 4.
Canadian Pacific and Kansas City (CKPC) said the five cars derailed while “being moved at low speed.”
The company says the rail line was reopened the same day after track repairs and safety inspections were completed.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident as it resulted in a small leak of gasoline.
“There was a small leak (less than one litre of gasoline) reported from one of the tank cars,” the TSB said in a statement to the CBC.
It said it was notified of a derailment and was gathering information and assessing the incident, though as of publishing, investigators had not been deployed to the scene.
