The Kamloops Food Bank is hosting its Drive Thru Breakfast fundraiser Friday, in support of the Starfish Backpack Program.

Executive Director Bernadette Siracky says the breakfast fundraiser is taking place at Cascades Casino – near Costco -from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

“Come by when you’re driving the kids to school, have your dogs in the car, we have treats for all of them,” said Siracky.

She says the money raised from the event, will go to support the Starfish Backpack program.

“When the Starfish Backpack Program idea happened about six years ago, the school district jumped on board with us… It was started by Rotary and we fill backpacks with food and distribute them every Friday.”

Those backpacks are handed out to SD73 students in need, to ensure they have enough healthy, easy-to-make meals to get through the weekend.

“It’s our only fundraising event for this program, so please come on down!”

Siracky says on Friday’s menu is breakfast wraps, coffee, toys for the little ones, and treats for your pets.

RadioNL’s sister stations, K97-5 Kamloops Classic Rock and New Country 103-1 Kamloops will be broadcasting live from Cascades Casino Friday morning.
