UPDATE 4:45 p.m. – CN Rail says its crews are responding after 14 rail cars loaded with potash derailed near Rayleigh Wednesday morning.
In an email to Radio NL, CN Rail spokesperson Scott Brown says there were no dangerous goods involved and no leaks, injuries, or fires reported.
Pictures from the scene – taken by Rick Kivari around 11:45 a.m. Sept. 20 – showed a number of rail cars that derailed not too far from the CN Rail Yard. Kivari says the train likely derailed sometime between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. this morning.
This is the second train derailment in the Kamloops area this month.
Five rail cars carrying fuel went off the tracks east of Ashcroft on Sept. 4, an incident the Transpiration Safety Board said led to a “small leak” of gasoline.
