The annual Fall Kamloops Rotary Food Drive is taking place tomorrow.
Kamloops Food Bank Executive Director Bernadette Siracky says its the first year they have transitioned from the plastic yellow bags, to the paper bags, noting they should have already arrived in peoples mailboxes this week.
She encourages people to fill them up with non-perishable food items.
“We need anything that you have at home and we distribute it and are grateful for it honestly. We need anything from tuna, peanut butter, soup, to baby items to pet food, we are delighted to receive it all.”
Siracky says their goal for donations this year is bigger than their usual collection amount.
“We tend to receive around 60,000 pounds per food drive so this time, fingers crossed, we are hoping for an increase – 80,000 pounds would be fabulous as the need here has truly — this year especially — increased.”
Siracky asks people to leave the filled, Rotary Food Bag on their doorstep before 9 am Saturday to be picked up for the drive.
