A shelter in place was ordered at the Logan Lake Elementary School on Thursday due to a man fleeing custody.
Logan Lake RCMP responded to a call at 11 a.m. today after a 37-year-old man ran away from the “Vision Quest Society” recovery housing program.
Police say the man was under a court order to remain at the facility.
An immediate search began for the man, however, upon an officer locating the man, he immediately ran, and jumped over a fence where officers lost sight of him.
Due to the proximity of the Logan Lake Elementary School, the school’s “shelter-in-place” policy was put into effect, while officers attempted to apprehend the man.
With the assistance of a Police Service Dog, the man was found hiding in an out building, where he was safely taken into custody.
The man was held in custody to appear before a judge.
Charges of breaching his release order, obstruction and mischief are being forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service.
