The Kamloops Blazers were shut out 5-0 by the Everett Silvertips in their first road game of the 2023-24 WHL season.
It was the first regulation loss for a youthful Blazers team who drop to 1-1-1 on the season.
Teague Patton and Beau Courtney had the Silvertips up by two goals after two periods at the Angel of the Winds Arena Saturday night.
Former Blazer Kaden Hammell – traded to Everett in the blockbuster trade for Olen Zellweger and Ryan Hofer – scored the only goal of the second period on the power play to put Everett by three.
Dominik Rymon – on the power play – and Ty Gibson added a pair in the third period to give Everett their third win of the season in four games.
Dylan Ernst allowed five goals on 36 shots in a losing effort. Ethan Chadwick stopped all 24 shots he faced to take the shutout win.
Next up for the Blazers is a game against the winless Victoria Royals on Oct. 6 at Sandman Centre.
