With a deep, and veteran-laden roster, Kamloops product and former Blazer captain Logan Stankoven will start the season with the Stars’ AHL affiliate in Austin, Texas.
Stankoven was part of a handful of players sent down to the AHL’s Texas Stars this morning – joining Matthew Seminoff.
Stankoven played in five NHL pre-season, collecting three assists.
The 20 year-old will likely be one of the Stars first call-ups if they run into injuries.
Meanwhile, 19 year-old Blazer Fraser Minten remains with the Toronto Maple Leafs a day before their roster must be declared for the regular season.
Minten played Saturday night in Detroit to cap a strong pre-season.
“Either way, I’m happy. I think I left everything I could on the table,” said Minten, speaking to reporters following Saturday’s game in Detroit on his NHL fate.
The Leafs have to make some roster juggling in order to make it work.
Sunday saw the Leafs trade forward Sam Lafferty to the Vancouver Canucks for a 5th round pick.
It’s a move that could start to pave the way to keep Minten to start with Toronto, or stay on the roster.
Toronto has the ability to keep Minten for 9 games before they have to begin paying him his entry-level contract.
