Kamloops RCMP are asking for help in locating hard-body armour which was stolen from a police vehicle in Sahali.
Mounties say they were called to the 900-block of Notre Dame Drive early yesterday morning, Oct. 12. They say they arrived to find a fully marked police SUV from a neighbouring detachment “had been damaged significantly.”
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says police later discovered that the armour vest was also taken from the vehicle.
“The SUV was towed and secured for examination by our Forensic Identification Service Unit as part of the ongoing investigation,” Evelyn said.
“While police officers, including those from our General Investigations Support Team, continue to work on identifying a suspect, we are asking the public to please be on the lookout for the police issued body armour stolen from the vehicle.”
Evelyn says police were later told about another incident at that same location from about 11:30 p.m. the night before where “several” more vehicles had been damaged.
“Two suspects were observed as part of the investigation,” Evelyn said. “The first one is described as wearing all black with a maroon hood; the second had a black and white Adidas style jacket with blue jeans.”
People with information are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-36896 or 2023-36908
