Kamloops has the chance to explore art throughout downtown after the sun goes down, with the return of the Luminocity exhibition.
Kamloops Art Gallery Margaret Chrumka says the exhibition at Riverside Park features artist-made videos from 12 artists around the world – and immersive light experiences in front of the Rotary Bandshell.
“The screens are enormous, the sound quality is perfect, and this year we have an attraction that is a human scaled kaleidoscope that folks can walk through. Its like selfie heaven down there.”
Chrumka says the video projects range from narrative storytelling to experimental film and animation.
“We have works also being projected from the windows out of the library and on the backside of the gallery here and on top of the entrance there is work, so there is work at the gallery as well.”
She says the goal is to let people experience art in a new way.
“The video works themselves, they are astonishingly beautiful, and I know for people that may or may not engage deeply with visual art – you don’t need to know anything about art to appreciate what is going on down there.”
The free event runs until Saturday night being the last day to check it out.
Chrumka says there is also nightly tours at Riverside Park, as part of the event, with films start every night when it gets dark enough.
