It was another spirited outing for the Kamloops Blazers but a 5-2 loss to the Wild in Wenatchee meant they were unable to prevent their winless streak from hitting double digits.
Connor Geekie opened the scoring for the WHL’s newest franchise with a power play goal at 5:48.
The Blazers’ weren’t pushovers to begin as they played one of the best road periods in what has been a difficult season thus far. They tested Daniel Hauser – who had to stop several top chances and two breakaways – in the opening period.
Hauser was not able to keep out Kamloops native Dylan Sydor, who scored on a 5-on-3 man advantage, to tie the game at 1-1.

Graham Sward and Karter Prosofsky on the power play put the Wild up 3-1 after 40 minutes of hockey, before an early third period goal from Sydor at 1:43 got the Blazers back to within one.

The Blazers’ comeback attempt was quickly snuffed out when Hayden Moore restored Wenatchee’s two goal lead 17 seconds later.
Evan Friesen also found the back of the net in the third and the Wild held on for the win.
Jesse Sanche turned aside 28 of 33 shots he faced in a losing effort, while Hauser stopped 37 of 39 shots to earn the win.
The Blazers now get set for their first three game weekend of the season.
They host the Tri-City Americans in a pair of games Friday and Saturday before a road game against the Vancouver Giants on Sunday.
