The City of Kamloops’ first neighbourhood town hall meeting is set to take place tonight in Barnhartvale.
The “Community + Council Conversation” monthly meetings are set to allow residents to take part in table discussions and voice their concerns on Safety and Security, Governance and Service Excellence, Livability and Sustainability, and Economic Health.
City of Kamloops Spokesperson Kristen Rodrigue says tables will be set up at Barnthartvale Hall, representing each of Council’s strategic priorities.
“Residents who attend will be able to sit at one of those tables, have a discussion at the table about those topics and then after half an hour they can move to another table and have a conversation about a different topic.”
Rodrigue says everyone at the session will get an opportunity to share their thoughts at the tables tonight.
“Then at the end of the night, we will be reporting back what we heard at each of the tables, what we see as important to the community, and then if there is anything that has been missed or anything they want elaborate on – there will be an opportunity at that point.”
The meeting is taking place from 6 p.m. till 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with Rodrigue noting registration is not required.
“We didn’t want to put up any barriers to anyone attending so we don’t have any idea what number of people are going to show up tonight; we are hoping there is a good turnout so we can have a good discussion.”
Tonight’s Community and Council Conversation session is the first in a series of monthly meetings taking place from now until May 2024, a full schedule and more details can be found here.
