While the newspaper has wrapped up operations, the Kamloops This Week Christmas Cheer Fund will live on.
The BC Interior Community Foundation (BCICF) – which has been working with KTW on the fund since 2021 – will be taking over this winter.
“We are excited to carry forward the tradition of the Kamloops This Week Christmas Cheer campaign and bring holiday joy to those in need,” BCICF Executive Director, Wenda Noonan said.
“The closure of the newspaper has not diminished the spirit of giving in our community, and we are committed to making this year’s campaign a resounding success.”
KTW had been operating the fund since 2014 after it took it over from the Kamloops Daily News after it ceased operations.
“BCICF is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the quality of life in the region by facilitating charitable giving, creating lasting legacy funds, and investing in people, projects, and programs,” Noonan added.
“This campaign aligns perfectly with our mission, as we believe in the power of collective generosity to make our community a better place for all.”
The 2023 Christmas Cheer Fund is hoping to raise $85,000, which will help “brighten the lives of local families who need it most during the holiday season.”
