A warning for anyone planning to head down to the coast tonight and through the weekend.
Environment Canada says a coastal system is set to bring anywhere from 15 to 20-centimeters of snow to sections of the Coquihalla between Merritt and Hope starting tonight.
The weather office says the snow will begin this evening, get heavy overnight, and then continue through much of Saturday as flurries.
“Another frontal system will move onshore tonight and across the interior on Saturday,” warns Environment Canada. “Flurries will begin this evening and become snow at times heavy overnight. Snow gradually ease to flurries midday Saturday.”
It warns that rapidly accumulating snowfall amounts are going to make travel difficult.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” notes Environment Canada. “Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”
The Kamloops to Merritt section is not expected to be hit as hard, though may see some snow as well.
It comes as snow is already starting to accumulate on the Okanagan Connector.
However, that stretch of highway between Merritt and Kelowna does not fall under this new warning.
Snowfall warnings are also in-place for Highway 3 through Allision Pass, with 15 to 20-centimeters expected through that stretch overnight and into Saturday.
