The District of Barriere is looking for a new Chief Administrative Officer after their current CAO – Bob Payette – announced he will be stepping down from the role.
Payette will remain in the role until the beginning of January, after serving as the CAO since the summer of 2020.
The District of Barriere says in a statement that Payette oversaw a number of economic boosts for the community during his three-and-a half year tenure, including a number of commercial and industrial development start-ups in the Louis Creek Industrial Park.
“These enterprises help contribute to the economic stability of the District and have created a number of employment opportunities in the Valley,” the statement said.
Another project the outgoing CAO is particularly proud of is the fully grant funded renovation of the “Flume Business Centre” (previously known as the old HY Louie Building) in the center of town that is currently underway.
“This project will be the business hub of the community with the relocation of the Barriere Chamber of Commerce and where other local businesses and organizations will call home. Completion of the project is expected in the early spring,” the statement added.
Payette served with the Canadian Forces for 12 years. After retiring from the military he has been in the local government management field for the past 11 years.
His next stop is Vancouver Island where Bob and his wife will be closer to family.
“My family is moving on to our next adventure… We’re thrilled to have spent over three years here as we’ve really enjoyed our time in this amazing community,” said Payette.
Corporate Officer Tasha Buchanan will be filling in as Acting CAO until a replacement for Payette is found.
