A pair of former Kamloops Blazers forwards scored their first professional goals Friday night.
Matthew Seminoff opened the scoring for the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars in a 4-2 road defeat to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The 19-year-old Seminoff lifted a shot over Sebastian Cossa in a one-on-one opportunity at 18:06 of the first period.

In 21 games this season, Seminoff has a goal and three assists to his name. Fellow Blazer Logan Stankoven, the reigning AHL Rookie of the Month, was held scoreless Friday night.
Caedan Bankier also opened the scoring with a power play goal for the Iowa Wild in a 2-1 win over the Rockford Ice Hogs.
The 20-year-old’s first professional goal – and point – came courtesy of a one-time from the right circle past Drew Commesso at 10:45 of the first period

Bankier made it two goals in two nights when he scored in the Wild’s 6-2 defeat against the Ice Hogs on Saturday. The former Blazer tied the game at 2-2 with 49 seconds to play in the second, before Rockford took control in the third.

Saturday’s game was the fourth of Bankier’s professional career after he was activated from season-opening injured reserve and reassigned to the Iowa Wild on Dec. 6.
