The RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit says a Kamloops man who was found dead near Inks Lake on Saturday was the victim of homicide.
Police have identified the victim as Mark Hoffman. They also released a picture of Hoffman and his dog – who was also found at the scene around 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 16 – in the hopes of furthering the investigation.
Mounties say Hoffman was killed off Inks Lake Road just west of the Coquihalla within the Logan Lake Community Forest at the coordinates (50.616435, -120.478799,) pictured below.
“This clarification is important, as the initial news release generally identified the event as occurring near Inks Lake to the east,” Mounties said in a release Thursday.

Earlier this week, Mounties said Hoffman left his house in Kamloops around 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. He was driving his older model green Ford Explorer, which was found near where the bodies were discovered.
“We are urging the public to assist in this investigation,” Inspector Brent Novakoski, District Senior Investigating Officer with the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit said.
“We’re particularly interested in speaking with anyone who had interactions with Mark Hoffman on December 15th or 16th, or anyone who was in the vicinity of the crime scene during that period.”
Mounties are asking anyone who may have seen Hoffman or his vehicle on Friday or Saturday leading up to his death to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit at 1-877-987-8477.
