Kamloops native Tyson Galloway has been traded from the Calgary Hitmen to the Swift Current Broncos for a pair of draft picks in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Hitmen are getting a second and a third round pick for the 20-year-old Galloway, who was serving as team captain.
He now joins a Broncos team that is hoping to make some noise in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.
In 33 games this season, Galloway has scored three goals – including one in Kamloops last Friday – and has 12 assists for 15 points. He’s played 216 games across parts of six WHL seasons, scoring 15 goals and adding 62 assists.
“Tyson moves well for a big body, defends hard, and is great on the penalty kill,” said Broncos General Manager Chad Leslie. “He is a character kid that will provide us with some leadership and experience.”
The six-foot-four defenceman was a fifth round pick of the St. Louis Blues in the 2021 NHL Draft, but he’s currently a free agent.
The Broncos also traded 20-year-old forward Tyson Laventure to the Victoria Royals for a fifth round pick in 2026 to make room for Galloway on their roster.
