Merritt RCMP say they’re looking to find the owner of some money which was turned into the detachment over the holidays.

RCMP Sgt. Brock Hedrick says a Good Samaritan showed up at the detachment on Dec. 29 and handed in an undisclosed amount of money which they had found while hiking in the Merritt area.

“The Merritt detachment would like to reunite the rightful owner with their missing funds,” Hedrick said. “We are not releasing the amount or the location the money was found.”

If you believe the found money might be yours, Hedrick says to contact the Merritt RCMP Detachment at 250-378-4262.

“The rightful owner will need to be able to identify the location where the funds were lost and the dollar figure,” Hedrick said.
