Jesse Sanche stole the show for the Kamloops Blazers with a 54 save effort but the 17-year-old’s heroics weren’t enough as the Everett Silvertips came away with a 4-1 win Saturday night.
The Blazers gave up three third-period goals in the second game of a home-and-home against the Silvertips, with the loss extending their losing streak to six games.
“I thought it was definitely one of my better games. It’s definitely the most shots I’ve had in a game in my career,” Sanche said post-game. “I thought I played well. Couple saves I’d want back obviously with that many shots but we’re playing for a win every night.”
“The team wants to win and we need wins, but we just have to find a way to battle, score more, and keep it out of our nets.”
Julius Miettinen scored the only goal of the first period to put Everett up 1-0.
Ryan Michael equalized on the power play in the second period, as both teams geared up for the final 20 minutes tied at 1-1.

Goals from Teague Patton and Jesse Heslop inside 6:05 of the third had Everett up 3-1. Austin Roest then ensured that the home team would take all the points when he scored at 15:49 to make it 4-1.
Sanche faced 58 shots on the night and was named the game’s second star. He also made 21 saves on 24 shots in relief Friday night, in a game the Silvertips won 8-2.
Everett’s Ethan Chadwick turned aside 21 of 22 Kamloops shots to pick up the win.
The Blazers drop to 9-26-3-2 on the season, and sit in last place in the WHL. Everett meanwhile is second in the Western Conference with a 26-14-1-2 record.
Kamloops will travel to Portland for a game against the Winterhawks on Monday. It is a 2 p.m. puck drop as the U.S. marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Blazers’ next home game is scheduled for Jan. 27, when the Kelowna Rockets come to town.
