RCMP say a 23-year-old Kamloops woman is in custody after she allegedly rammed a police vehicle during a pursuit that ended on the Tk’emlúps reserve on Friday afternoon.
Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says police were called to the 600-block of Alberni Avenue on the North Shore just before 4 p.m. on Jan. 12, to reports that a vehicle had been just been stolen from that location.
Shoihet says that vehicle was tracked the vehicle to an area in the 600-block of Kamloopa Road on the Tk’emlúps reserve, about seven kilometres away.
“The driver allegedly collided with a police vehicle while attempting to evade capture,” Shoihet said. “She was arrested without incident after the vehicle she was driving became disabled.”
Mounties say Shaina Juarez has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a court order and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Juarez is expected to appear in Kamloops court tomorrow, Jan. 16.
People who witnessed the incident are being told to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2024-1184.
