A new CBS TV series that was shot in the Kamloops area is set to premiere on Super Bowl Sunday next month.
Thompson-Nicola Film Commissioner Terri Hadwin says the pilot episode of Tracker – which stars Justin Hartley of This is Us fame – was shot in the Walhachin and Cache Creek area in the summer of 2022.
It is the second major TV series shot west of Kamloops that is being released in a three month span, after Monarch: Legacy of Monsters – starring Kurt Russell and John Goodman – which premiered in mid-November.
“It’s pretty popular for our desert scenes,” Hadwin said of the area. “It is a very vast open area, its relatively close to the hub that is the City of Kamloops.”
“I think its a great location because it can show vast untouched landscapes but it can also show a little but of different scope as sometimes you can see powerlines but in other shots you can see absolutely noting.”
According to IMDb, Hartley – who plays Colter Shaw – travels across the U.S. in an old-school RV helping police and private citizens solve crimes and locate missing people “until his latest case changes everything.”
“I think the story is going to lead to him finding himself as well,” Hadwin said. “If you can take a look to see there is the trailer that has aired on IMDb and we love how all of the imagery just really boasts our area.”
“The main shots for the poster is us so its just beautiful. We love seeing that.”
The new series will debut on CBS in the United States immediately after the Super Bowl on Feb. 11.
“Everybody should tune in and see if they can spot our beautiful locations,” Hadwin added.
