Warm winter weather continues to play havoc at the Overlander Ski Club and Harper Mountain near Kamloops.
Less than four weeks after the two facilities opened for the season, they’re either closed as of publishing or will be closing because of poor conditions.
The Overlander Ski Club will be closing the Stake Lake ski trails this Friday to Sunday, Feb. 2 to 4. It is also cancelling night skiing Thursday evening, Feb. 1.
“The warm weather has not been kind to our trail system and we need to protect the base that we have left until the cooler temperatures (and hopefully snowfall) return,” the Club said in a Facebook post.
The ski trails will be open between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. tomorrow, though there will be a number of trail closures in effect on Rattler, Rustler, Quick Draw, Little Joe, and Cowpoke.
Elsewhere Harper Mountain said Tuesday that it was pausing all operations until this weekend.
“The grooming is just not possible with the wet snow,” a Facebook post said. “The temperature looks to be trending back towards seasonal for the weekend.”
