RCMP say one person was killed in head-on crash between two semi-trucks on Highway 97 near Monte Creek on Monday night.
Cpl. Melissa Jongema with BC Highway Patrol says the driver of one of the semis was killed in the crash near Hanna Road, which happened around 5:45 p.m. Feb. 12.
“The other driver survived the collision and was taken to Hospital for assessment,” Jongema said, in an email to Radio NL.
BC Emergency Health Services says it dispatched five ambulances to the scene Monday night. Paramedics say they took one person to hospital but the extent of their injuries is not known.
The crash led to the closure of Highway 97 for several hours last night, with Jongema noting the highway will be temporarily closed later today to allow crews to clear the scene.
Jongema says BC Highway Patrol in Kamloops is leading the investigation to determine what caused the crash.
