The tenth annual Radiothon will take over the Radio NL airwaves from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 22.
RIH Foundation CEO Heidi Coleman says it is a day she looks forward to every year, as it helps raise money for healthcare at Royal Inland Hospital.
“Sometimes you know its for smaller equipment, say under $50,000, under $10,000 from the NICU to the respiratory medicine to pediatrics and then sometime sits one of these incredible beds that we have or GlideScopes for the ER,” Coleman said.
Coleman also says she is looking forward to hearing the stories from donors, patients, and medical professionals.
“We’re very excited. We have a lot of hour-long sponsors coming, a lot of volunteers coming to answer the phones,” she said. “It really is a wonderful day sharing the great work that we’re doing, working as a community, and raising money.”
“We stand up for the hospital and we make this area a regional hospital district, the TNRD, the Thompson-Cariboo however you want to say it, this area is a wonderful place to live and play, but we have to keep our hospital strong.”
Over the last nine years, Radiothon has raised around $1.5 million for the RIH Foundation. Last year’s edition raised a little over $260,000.
