Kamloops RCMP say a man who was wanted for a robbery that happened in August was arrested on Monday after he was found unresponsive inside a vehicle that was running.
Mounties say they were called to a parking lot on the 400-block of 10th Avenue downtown around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 19, where they found a Honda Pilot SUV, which was later reported as stolen.
“Officers turned off the vehicle and recognized a man inside as wanted on an arrest warrant related to a Kamloops robbery in August,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said, noting two long guns were also seized from the vehicle.
“He was held in custody for a bail hearing, during which he was released with a next court appearance date for Feb. 22, 2024.”
Evelyn says in addition to theft of a motor vehicle, Mounties have also launched an investigation into prohibited driving, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and breach of a release order.
She said the man was given a 24-hour driving prohibition for drug impairment, while the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
People with video or information related to the incident are being told to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2024-5082.
