It’s the end of the line for the Corryn Brown rink at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary.
The Kamloops-based team which consists of Corryn Brown, Erin Pincott, Jenn Armstrong, and Sam Fisher needed a win in their final round robin game against Alberta this afternoon, in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
They trailed 6-5 going into the final end, but did not have last rock as Alberta went on to win 8-5 win. The loss dropped the Brown rink into a five-way tie in Pool A with a 4-4 record, but it was not enough for them to advance.
Brown and company are heading home after a strong showing at the national championship as a wild card entry. It was their third appearance at the Scotties having also competed in 2020 and 2021
They beat Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, lost to Kerri Einarson’s Team Canada rink and to Alberta, and conceded against Northern Ontario and Kaitlyn Lawes’ Manitoba rink.
The top six teams will move into the playoff round this weekend, with the 2024 Scotties final set for Sunday, Feb 25.
The winner will represent Canada at the 2024 World Women’s Curling Championship which is being held in Sydney, N.S., between March 16 and 24.
