The Kamloops Snowmobile Association says its been a slow season for snowmobilers across the area this winter because of a lack of snow.
Association President Jeff Boyle says the club has had challenges with maintaining its roughly 180 kilometre long trail network in the Tranquille area and in Sun Peaks.
“This has just been one of those funny years, you know,” Boyle said, on NL Newsday.
“It started out slow and really never materialized when it should have in November. We did get some fair snow in December and right now, its really not too bad up there. We have had a couple of small dumps of snow.”
Calling it an “interesting season,” Boyle says that lack of snow this winter has led to a drop in memberships at the club.
“We usually sit around 300 or so on our membership numbers, but right now we’re at 225,” he said. “With the weather the way its been, we’ve had a few people I guess giving it a second though about buying a membership.”
“With the snow coming and then stopping and warming up, and not that much show, it really hurt our membership drive.”
