It’s the final few days to vote for Sun Peaks Resort in a national competition that is looking to find the country’s most invested ski community.
Director of Communications Christina Antoniak says people have until March 3 to vote in the Mackenzie Top Peak competition, at which point the top three finishers will be determined.
“We’re in fifth position, which we have been in quite consistently since this round rolled over, and we’re about 6,000 votes away from catching that third place spot,” Antoniak said on NL Mornings.
“I think if everyone who listened went out and voted, that would certainly help. We’d love to make it to the Top 3 and see what the judged final decision is.”
The winner of the contest will get a $100,000 grand prize, which Sun Peaks plans to use to build a permanent ski cross course in its terrain park. The second and third place finishers will get $20,000 and $10,000, respectively.
“Every year we have to rebuild it by snow,” Antoniak said on NL Mornings last month. “It takes millions of gallons of water and machine time and resources to get this “course up and running. We can’t get it up and running until January.”
The winner of Mackenzie Top Peak competition will be announced on March 9.
