RCMP say a 27-year-old local man is facing charges after a suspicious vehicle fire in downtown Kamloops on Friday morning.
Mounties say they were called to the 700-block of St. Paul Street just before 8 a.m., Feb. 23, by Kamloops Fire and Rescue, after its crews had extinguished a van that was on fire.
“As part of the investigation, police officers quickly identified and located a suspect nearby, on the 300-block of St. Paul Street and took him into custody,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said.
Evelyn said Troy Mitchell Felix is charged with one count of arson related to intentionally or recklessly causing damage or explosion to property; and one count of theft of a portable battery booster.
Felix was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody, with a court appearance earlier today, Feb. 28.
