Kamloops RCMP says the skeletal remains found in the Mission Flats area last month are that of a man who was reported missing nearly four years ago.
Mounties say the remains, which were located near the Mission Flats landfill on Feb. 25, belonged to a 41-year-old man who was last seen on Feb. 19, 2020, and reported missing in May that year.
Kamloops RCMP Spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says criminality is not suspected in the death or disappearance of the man, who police are not identifying in order to protect his privacy.
They note the man’s family has been notified about this discovery.
“We hope that his discovery brings some small amount of closure to those who have looked for him,” Evelyn said. “The Kamloops RCMP Detachment offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”
While it is not clear who the person was, a missing persons report was issued for 41-year old Jason Redhead around the same time.
