RCMP say a vehicle that was stolen from a downtown Kamloops street led to the arrest of four people and the recovery of a number of other stolen vehicles – including a travel trailer – from a rural property.
Police say they were told about a Volvo sedan that was stolen from the 100-block of Clarke Street in Kamloops around 8:20 a.m. last Tuesday, April 2. They say that the sedan was later found at an address on the 600-block of Shuswap Road, on the Tk’emlups Reserve.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit was also called in as police seized the other stolen vehicles – which were from “multiple police jurisdictions” – along with a loaded handgun.
“Thanks to the quick actions of the Tk’emlúps police officers and city detachment support units, vehicles that had been stolen out of Oliver, Vernon, and Kamloops were recovered,” Evelyn said. “Four people who are known to police were located in the stolen travel trailer, detained, and later released pending further investigation, which includes the assistance of the Forensic Identification Services Unit.”
