It is National Tourism Week across Canada and that could mean free ice cream for people in Kamloops today, April 16.
Tourism Kamloops’s Lisa White says you’ll be able to get a free cone of ice cream by showing your ‘Loops Explorer Pass at either Scoopz, the Frozen Paddle, or the Ice Cream Social between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
“I don’t think there’s ever a bad day for ice cream,” White said on NL Mornings.
“Its always a delicious treat and its really our opportunity to just say thank you to our community, to inspire Kamloopsians to be excited about our peak tourism season ahead, and really embrace all the amazing attractions and experiences that we have here in Kamloops.”

White says the tourism industry had a $522 million impact on the Kamloops economy in 2022, with $310 million of that coming from direct visitor spending. She also says the tourism industry contributed $7.2 billion to B.C.’s GDP in 2022.
“Those are big numbers and that’s a big impact in our community,” White said. “Tourism really does play such a key role in enriching our community, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable growth.”
The ‘Loops Explorer Pass evolved from the Luv’n the Loops passport, which also offered people who signed up a number of local deals.
Luv’n the Loops began as a monthly mystery bus tour in 2019 that took people to a number of locations around the Kamloops-area, in the hopes of empowering them to become tourism ambassador.
The program morphed into the passport program at the onset of COVID-19.
