Kamloops native Logan Stankoven has been named to the 2023-24 AHL First All-Star Team.
The 21-year-old Stankoven, who also made the AHL’s All-Rookie Team, is the first-ever Texas rookie to make the All-Star team.
Stankoven led all AHL rookies in scoring with 57 points (24 goals and 33 assists) in 47 games in his first season of professional hockey. He was third in goals and tied for third in assists among rookies.
His 1.21 points per game are the most ever by a Texas rookie and second most in the team’s history.
Drafted 47th overall by the Dallas Stars in the second round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Stankoven is the first Texas Stars rookie to surpass 50 points since Jason Dickinson in 2015-16.
Stankoven has been playing NHL hockey with the Dallas Stars for the past two months, and finished the NHL regular season with 14 points (six goals and eight assists). He also has one assist in two NHL playoff games.
Fellow Texas forward Mavrik Bourque was also named to the AHL First All-Star team, along with former Vancouver Canucks forward Adam Gaudette, who plays for the Springfield Thunderbirds.
Defencemen Kyle Capobianco of the Manitoba Moose and Brad Hunt of the Colorado Eagles and goaltender Hunter Shepard of the Hershey Bears round out the 2023-24 AHL First All-Star Team.
