A cup of coffee is going to be part of the agenda from now on for those with business before Kamloops city council.
Council has voted to change their meeting dynamics on Tuesdays, shifting the open sessions to start at 9:30am, followed by closed sessions in the afternoon.
The open meetings have been starting at 1:30pm.
Under this current council, some of those meetings have run well past 5pm.
Councillor Katie Neustaeter says the public hearings will still be held in the evenings — 7pm.
“As it stands we will leave it how it is. It seems to be working fairly well, and within the rhythms of council,” noted Neustaeter. “The objective of this was just to bring us until alignment and create smoother structure…not necessarily to shake up everything.”
The new start times for council will take effect at the next scheduled open council session.
