The B.C. government is updating its regulations governing mobile home parks, with officials saying the changes will make life easier for residents.
A statement from the Ministry of Housing says there is currently no limit on how often property owners can change the rules at their park.
Owners can set rules related to speed limits for vehicles, water use, and the renovation of homes and properties in the park.
Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon says residents shouldn’t be subject to rules that can change every two weeks, and the updated regulation means changes will now be allowed once a year with three months’ notice for tenants.
“The changes were a result of the provincial task force recommendations and consultations with stakeholders, and we hope the new process will simplify and provide clarity for all the parties involved,” William Kovacic, president, Manufactured Home Park Owners Alliance said in a news release.
Kovacic joined NL Newsday to discuss the rule changes and what it means for mobile home owners.
