RCMP say a Kamloops man is facing seven charges following the discovery of weapons in a stolen vehicle that was seen “parked in a suspicious manner.”
Police say an officer on patrol on Kokanee Way spotted the vehicle – which was missing its front licence plate – around 1:25 a.m. Thursday, May 9.
“As part of the investigation, officers located weapons including a restricted firearm, ammunition, bear spray, and a switchblade knife,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said.
“A man and a woman were taken into custody and held for court – the woman for an unendorsed arrest warrant; the man for the new offences.”
Police say 21-year-old Cameron Jewett is charged with possessing property that was obtained by crime. He’s also facing numerous weapons charges including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm without a license or registration.
The woman was not named by police, though they note Jewett was remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
People with information are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-13671.
