Environment Canada is calling for more snow to fall on the Hope to Merritt section of the Coquihalla Highway tonight, May 28.
It has issued another special weather statement – the third this month – warning drivers of a trace amount of snow and reduced visibility until at least Wednesday morning.
A similar advisory is also in place for Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton via the Allison Pass.
“An upper trough of low pressure will bring a cool airmass to the Southern Interior tonight,” Environment Canada said, in a statement. “Snow levels are forecast to drop below the passes overnight and light snowfall can be expected through Wednesday morning.”
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”
Drivers are being told to check Drive BC for the latest road conditions as winter tire requirements in B.C. were lifted on May 1.
Similar special weather statements were also in effect going into and coming out of the May Long Weekend.
