The Kamloops Blazers have signed 2009-born forward Asher Gingras to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
The Steinbach, MB native – the Blazers’ first round pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft – is the first player from that draft class to commit to playing in Kamloops.
The six-foot-one centre had 30 goals and 53 points in 21 games with the Eastman Selects U-15 AAA team last season, along with 13 goals and 19 points in 11 playoff games.
“Asher is a smooth-skating two-way forward. He puts up a lot of numbers. We’re excited to have him fall to us at 22,” Blazers Director of Player Personnel Aaron Keller said after the draft.
Gingras will on the ice this weekend with the rest of the Blazers 2008 and 2009-born prospects as the team holds a prospects camp at the Brock Arena.
