The Kamloops Blazers have acquired overage defenceman Layton Feist from the Spokane Chiefs, the second 20-year-old player they have traded for in as many days.
The Blazers gave up a third round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft – acquired from the Chiefs in the Shea Van Olm trade – for Feist, a former WHL first round pick.
The five-foot-11 Feist put up a career best nine goals and 38 points in 70 games with the Chiefs and the Regina Pats last season. He also scored two goals in three playoff games.
“With us having six 20-year-olds and league rules allowing teams to only keep three, we felt this was a good opportunity for Layton in his 20-year-old season,” Chiefs General Manager Matt Bardsley – who previously held that same role in Kamloops – said.
“We thank Layton for all he has done for the Spokane Chiefs organization.”
Feist – brother of former Chiefs, Pats, and Kelowna Rockets defenceman Tyson Feist – has 24 goals and 92 points to his name in 226 career WHL games. He also has two goals and three points in 10 playoff games over two seasons.
Feist joins Oren Shtrom – who was acquired from Prince George Thursday – and goaltender Dylan Ernst as overage players on the Blazers roster going into the 2024-25 season.
Blazers back-end now looks like: Feist (20), Tsakumis (19), Micheal (19), Koci (19), Brunicke (18), Anderlini (18), Guram (17).
