Kamloops RCMP say a large police presence at the Tournament Capital Centre this morning was prompted by a report of threats made with a weapon.
Mounties say they were called to the facility at 910 McGill Road around 11:30 this morning, June 10, after a person was threatened by someone who had a weapon inside a recreation centre.
“The parties involved are known to each other and no injuries were reported,” Mounties said, in a statement. “The public is asked to please avoid the area while officers respond.”
At this time, it is not clear what the nature of the threats were or what kind of weapon was involved.
People who witnessed the altercation or those with information about it are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2024-17834.
