
Train crossing at Vicars Road where fatal incident took place/via Google Street Maps
One person is dead after being hit by a train this morning in East Kamloops.
“On Thursday June 13, 2024, around 6 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the tracks near Kelly Douglas and Vicars Road, after being notified by Canadian Pacific Railway of the collision,” said the RCMP in a release. “Shortly after, a person was found deceased nearby.”
The Mounties say the circumstances surrounding the death remains unclear at this point.
“It’s very early in the investigation, which will be conducted concurrently with the BC Coroners Service and the Canadian Pacific Railway Police,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “The collision occurred in an area near a tire plant, across the highway from a motel. If anyone witnessed or captured any surveillance or dash camera footage from early this morning or overnight that could be connected, please contact police as soon as possible with any information that may be available.”
