Closed front doors of the Kamloops Inn on Thursday, June 27/via Paul James
The unexpected closure of a pair of pubs in downtown Kamloops this week is due to the sudden death of the owner, according to sources.
Inside sources say “Jag” Singh passed away suddenly earlier this week, leading to the “indefinite closure” of the Central Station Pub, as well as the Kamloops Inn.
Both of them were reportedly owned by “Jag,” who appears to have kept a low profile within the community.
Details of his passing, as well as his background, remain unclear to Radio NL at the time of publishing.
The sudden passing of the owner did lead to staff at the two locations to close their doors on Wednesday and Thursday out of respect to the family, according to inside sources.

Those same sources tell Radio NL the bars are expected to be open through the Canada Day long weekend, and possibly beyond.
Both the Central Station Pub and the Kamloops Inn, known locally as the “Kami,” have been in operation for close to a century.
Central Station also acts as a SRO upstairs.
No word at this point what may happen long-term with the two establishments, which are located just meters apart.
“The Central” is located at 146th 4th avenue, along Lansdowne.
The “Kami” is around the corner at 354 Victoria Street.
