
A pair of Kamloops-area communities saw record temperatures for July 16.
Preliminary data shows that Blue River set a record of 34.7 C yesterday, breaking the old July 16 record of 34.4 C set in 1970, with records going back to 1946.
The Cache Creek area tied a record set back in 2014 with a high of 38.2 C, with records going back to 1944.
In all, there were seven communities that set or tied a July 16 temperature record as the heat wave continues.
Kamloops got to a high of 37.8 C yesterday, a couple of degrees shy of the 39.4 C set in 1960.
Canada’s hotspot was Lytton once again as it reached a day time high of 40.9 C.
