
Location of fires burning on opposite sides of Dunn Lake in the North Thompson near Little Fort/via BC Wildfire Service
Ten properties in the North Thompson near Little Fort have been put under evacuation alert.
This is due to a pair of fires burning on opposite sides of Dunn Lake, which is directly east of Little Fort.
Those fires both got going on Monday afternoon, with the fire to the west of Dunn Lake suspected to be lightening caused.
The cause of the fire to the east of Dunn Lake isn’t known at this time.
However, that region of the North Thompson was hit with a number of lightening strikes on Monday afternoon, causing a number of spot fires near Clearwater and Vavenby, as well as to the east above Adams Lake.
The Mount Fennell fire on the west side of Dunn Lake was listed at 2.5 hectares as of 1pm on Tuesday.
The fire on the opposite side of Dunn Lake was listed at 4.5 hectares as of 1pm Tuesday.
Flight maps indicate the BC Wildfire Service has been actioning those blazes from the air.
No word on whether ground crews are being brought in to assist.
