Some 80,000 visits were made to Riverside park over the weekend to take in the 12th instalment of the Kamloops Rib Fest.
“Overall, a really good event,” said Daybreak Rotary spokesperson Bryce Herman. “We do kind of an overlay of numbers, as far as people coming into the Park and that type of thing on an hourly basis, and we’re running pretty much exactly what we did last year. That’s great. We’re pretty excited with those numbers. With it being the 12th event, we know this thing has got some traction to keep going.”
Herman says the beverage sales at this year’s event were down a bit from last year.
“Ribbers had a great overall event. They’re up a little bit,” noted Herman. “Our proceeds come primarily from the beverage garden, corn sales, those types of things. Beverage sales throughout the Park, in general, whether its soft drinks or what, and we know those numbers are down a little bit. We know that that’s a trend… a trend towards less drinking of alcoholic beverages.”
This year was the 2nd year the Daybreak Rotary was able to obtain a liquor license for Riverside Park, with the main area fenced off, allowing to people to wander around the park with alcohol.
Herman says tear down should be complete early this week.
