Kamloops RCMP have issued a public warning after a 40-year-old man who was previously identified as one of two local drug kingpins currently embroiled in a turf dispute, was released on bail.
Mounties say Cameron Cole has been released with a series of conditions and a future court date after a bail hearing on Aug. 23. His release comes about two weeks after he was arrested on firearms-related charges.
Kamloops RCMP say Cole, who narrowly escaped being shot outside the Sandbar Grill in early July, will be monitored by a team comprising of local Mounties, BC’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s (CFSEU) Uniform Gang Enforcement Team, and a bail supervisor.
“Following Cameron Cole’s recent arrest, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment informed the public that he had been taken into and remained in custody,” Kamloops RCMP Targeted Enforcement Unit Sergeant Kevin McIntyre said in a statement.
“Now that he has been released, we feel it’s important to update residents, as he remains the subject of a public interest disclosure issued by police in May. Our concerns related to an increased risk of public violence in the community continue.”
Police are asking people to stay vigilant and report suspicious occurrences or suspected criminal activities that could be related by calling the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.
