The Columbia-Shuswap Regional District has lifted a boil water notice that was issued to residents in the Blind Bay area last week.
The notice for the Cedar Heights Water System was issued last Tuesday because of mechanical issues with a pump that had to be fixed.
While repairs were completed by Wednesday, the CSRD’s Tracy Hughes says the boil water notice that covered around about 450 homes was put in place as a precaution.
“We’ve done a series of tests through Interior Health,” Hughes said. “All the tests have come back within safe levels and people can now feel free to consume the water directly from their tap.”
“Its certainly inconvenient for people but we want to be safe. We needed to make sure. Now it is safe and people can use their water system as normal.”
In all, about 450 homes in the Blind Bay area were affected by the boil water notice.
People who need more information are being told to contact the CSRD Utilities Department at 1-888-248-2773.
