RCMP have released a few more details about Saturday’s fatal semi-truck crash in Sicamous.
They say evidence shows that no other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened on the RW Bruhn Bridge around 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
“The investigation shows the victim’s truck struck the west end of the bridge as it descended down the hill eastbound onto the bridge,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said. ”
The truck then struck the north side curb of the bridge, and then crossed the bridge deck, before plunging through the south side railing and into the channel below.”
The driver – and only occupant of the vehicle – has been identified online as 25-year-old Raminderjit Singh.
Police have not said what might have caused the crash, which led to brief impacts to boat traffic in the Sicamous Narrows and vehicle traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway.
People with information are being told to contact the Sicamous RCMP directly at (250) 836-2878.
