Kamloops RCMP say a 29-year-old local man is facing six charges after he was arrested earlier this month.
Mounties say they were called to an address on Curlew Road in Valleyview around 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, to reports of a person with a screwdriver and a truck. They say that truck had been reported as stolen from Cammeray Drive in Rayleigh two days earlier.
“While officers were investigating, the truck left the parking lot and police continued to follow it onto Lorne Street, where it was abandoned by its driver and a foot pursuit was engaged,”” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said.
“With the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, a suspect was taken into custody shortly after.”
Mounties say Kirklen Gregory Petkau-Desjardin is facing six charges for offences including possession of stolen property over $5,000, obstructing police, prohibited driving, and failure to comply with a court order.
He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
