A company that ranked as the 3rd best startup in BC in the New Ventures BC startup competition, will available at Sun Peaks starting this winter.
SkiKrumb is created by an Okanagan-based entrepreneur, and has been designed to provide peace of mind to parents, thanks to a long-lasting battery, and advanced technology that reaches users where cell phones and other GPS-enabled trackers (like Apple’s AirTags) cannot.
Keith MacIntyre is the CEO & Founder of SkiKrumb and says he is excited to see his invention become a part of Sun Peaks. “We’re thrilled to welcome Sun Peaks to the skiKrumb family. Sun Peaks is known as a family resort with world-class skiing and snowboarding… Our customers last year have told us that it changed their entire skiing experience and they will never ski without it again.”
“This year I am very excited. So last year you needed cell service access to use the app, but this year we’re launching skiKrumb unbound. So you’ll be able to see live updates on your phone even if you don’t have connection.”
“The world’s first and only radio GPS tracker designed for ski resorts. So using radio rather than cell we can cover vastly larger areas of the mountain, especially for young kids that don’t have cell phones.”
“We launched at Big White and Apex last year and our first customers told that not only do they love it, they will never ski without it again. And it is not just a safety aspect, but convenience too. Knowing where your friends and family are on the mountain so you’re not texting each other. Texting is a miserable experience on the ski hill.”
MacIntyre says SkiKrumb can also help keep track of daily stats like number of runs and distance travelled.
The skiKrumb technology will also be used at Sun Peaks to show the location of the complimentary shuttle throughout the day along with the daily schedule both on the Sun Peaks website and in the skiKrumb app. “We’re happy to offer this service free of charge for Sun Peaks to enhance their guest experience.”
